Healthwise

After nearly 40 years since the discovery of the virus, HIV/ AIDS remains one of the biggest health challenges facing mankind. People living with HIV and AIDS continue to face stigmatisation and social exclusion, due to ignorance and lack of social acceptance.

Nationally and globally the rates of infection have increased, as a result of a decline in prevention initiatives. This has partly been as a result of the advent of treatments.

Wise Thoughts offers a range of culturally appropriate solution for Community Based Organisations (CBO), Non Governmental Organisations (NGO), Voluntary Sector Organisations (VSO) and statutory organisations working within the health sector.

Wise Thoughts is also able to:

  • Offer consultancy services to develop a media strategy or design culturally specific training for programmes, using the arts as a tool, for promoting sexual, reproductive health and HIV/AIDS awareness.
  • Offer workshops and create projects for service providing agencies working for minority ethnic communities in UK & internationally.
  • Help develop innovative programme packages involving documentary films, literature (Case histories/ stories), interviews of men who have sex with men (MSM) and gay men.
  • Design IEC material / packs and brochures in local languages for STI's and HIV/AIDS promotion.
  • Deliver specific artistic events (including workshops and performances) for International World AIDS Day with a holistic approach for service provision.
  • Conduct Health Impact Assessments pertinent to sexual health.

Previous projects include those funded by Department of Foreign and International Development (DFID), and the United Nations Family Planning Association (UNFPA)
